What is the testing requirement?

It is now mandatory for any travellers entering the UK from these countries to perform two Covid-19 tests to confirm they are virus free.

Day 2 Testing

This test must be taken within the first two days of arrival, this can be anytime from landing to the end of the second day you are in the UK. This is for two purposes, to detect those who have recently transmitted the virus preventing an outbreak and for variant distinction. Any positive results will undergo extra testing to identify the specific variant the traveller has contracted. Whether the test is positive or negative you will still be obligated to continue to quarantine.

Day 8 Testing

This test must be taken on or after the eighth day of arrival, this test is to determine whether you have contracted Covid-19 during the time you have arrived in the UK.

Negative Results

If you were self-isolating as an international arrival you may stop self-isolating. You should however, self-isolate if:

1 – You get symptoms of coronavirus (you should get an NHS coronavirus test and self-isolate until you get the results).

2 – You’re going into hospital (self-isolating until the date you go in).

3 – Someone you live with tests positive.

4 – You’ve been traced as a contact of someone who tested positive.

For advice on when you might need to self-isolate and what to do, go to www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19 and read- Self-isolation and treating symptoms.

Positive Results

If your test is positive but you have not had symptoms of coronavirus, you must self-isolate for 10 days from the day after your test date. If you have symptoms of coronavirus, you must self-isolate for 10 days from the day your symptoms started, if earlier than when you took your test. (The day after symptom onset or test date is counted as the first full day of self-isolation.)

1 – People you live with or are travelling with should also self-isolate for 10 days from the day after you took a test.

2 – You may be contacted for contact tracing and to check that you, and those who you live or are travelling with, are self-isolating.

3 – You must not travel, including to leave the UK, during self-isolation.

4 – Contact 111 if you need medical help. In an emergency dial 999.

What happens if I don’t take the test?

The tests are mandatory. If you do not take the tests, you may face a penalty of up to £10,000. Please see the government website for the latest information.

What is the Step by Step?

1. Complete the form above including all details for the passenger
2. Make payment online through the form
3. Payment receipt is sent followed with an email containing your passenger locator code
4. Kits are dispatched direct via post
5. Swab your samples and return in the Tracked24 envelope provided in a Royal Mail priority post box
6. Wait for your results to be emailed directly to you

What is the difference in postal testing and on-site testing?

Postal testing is for Day 2 & Day 8 travel testing. Kits are sent to your home before you return to the UK for swabbing and returning via post. Testing on-site is conducted at our Nottingham laboratory for Day 5 test to release and fit to fly travel testing.

What is the process for on-site testing?

You arrange a time with Future Health to attend on-site at Nottingham. You swab in your vehicle and hand the swab back to us. Processing happens on-site and results are issued within 24 hours.

*Fully NHS vaccinated means 2 doses of NHS UK administered Moderna, AstraZeneca or the Pfizer vaccine, or 1 dose of the Janssen single-dose vaccine as per gov.uk. Amber list quarantine exemption for Fully NHS UK vaccinated arrivals does not apply to travellers returning from France who require Day 2 Day 8 PCR Tests.
