Joanne Kurtzberg, diretora cientifica e diretora clinica do Duke Robertson Cell e do Programa de Terapia Translational, e Geraldine Dawson, diretor do Centro de Duke para Diagn\u00f3stico e Tratamento do autismo esperam desenvolver terapias baseadas em c\u00e9lulas que podem potencialmente restaurar a fun\u00e7\u00e3o cerebral em pessoas com dist\u00farbios, para a qual atualmente n\u00e3o h\u00e1 cura.
