Experience is a good indication of competence in any stem cell bank and ours is second-to-none. We are the UK’s most experienced cord blood bank, releasing 122 samples for treatment in our 20 year history.
Compare stem cell banks
Storing your baby’s stem cells is one of the best decisions that you can make as a parent. These cells offer a valuable source of health protection, long into adulthood. All it takes is a small sample and the right stem cell bank for your family.
Understandably, choosing a reputable, trustworthy and secure stem cell bank can seem like a challenge. That’s why we provide parents with the information and resources they need all in one place, giving you the confidence to make your final decision.
Which stem cells can I store with Future Health?
Umbilical cord blood stem cells
Your baby’s umbilical cord blood is a rich source of ‘multipotent’ stem cells, meaning they can regenerate and repair a wide range of blood and tissue cells in the body. They are a 100% HLA match to the baby and a 25% match to a sibling, and can treat inherited blood diseases, immunity disorders, types of cancer and leukaemia. Cord blood banking involves collecting, processing and storing these cells from the umbilical cord blood after your baby is born, for possible use in the future.
Umbilical cord tissue stem cells
Cord tissue is known to be a rich source of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). They are known to transform into a variety of cell types in the human body, including bone, cartilage, muscle and fat cells. The number of MSCs in your body slowly decreases with age, so cord tissue banking offers an effective way to preserve these valuable cells. They are also a 100% HLA match to your baby.
Dental pulp stem cells
Many studies show that the pulp in milk teeth provides another valuable source of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), which could be used to replace and repair damaged cell tissue in bone, cartilage muscle and fat. Dental pulp stem cells are a more recently discovered source of MSCs; offering parents a second chance to store their child’s precious cells.
Choosing a stem cell bank
The Parent’s Guide to Cord Blood Foundation defines 7 key considerations when choosing a cord blood bank. Here’s how we measure up against the criteria of a good, trustworthy and quality bank
We privately own and operate an on-site laboratory in the UK and two storage facilities in the UK and Switzerland. These facilities allow us to remain at the forefront of stem cell technology.
We follow the industry-approved volume reduced processing method for all samples, ensuring safety and a cell recovery rate of up to 99% pre-freeze.
We currently store over 200,000 samples for over 100,000 families – more than all other UK cord blood banks combined.
All samples are stored at our own dedicated storage facilities.
If you ever need your sample, transportation and shipment is totally free of charge to anywhere in the world. We use our own medically approved courier to transport samples directly, 24/7.
One of the most important factors to consider is whether your chosen stem cell bank is fully licensed and accredited by the relevant regulatory bodies.
We are one of the most accredited banks in the world, holding MHRA and AABB accreditations, GMP and ISO 9001 certification and licences from Swissmedic, HTA, OFSP and FCA.
To ensure we’re continuously meeting standards, we comply with each accreditor’s regular audits in addition to performing our own, maintaining the Future Health standard.
For cord blood and cord tissue banking, we provide three main price packages: Standard, Premium and Premium+, all including a one-off setup fee and a small annual storage fee. We are also the only cord blood bank to offer flexible finance on our services; allowing our customers to spread the cost of stem cell banking over 6 or 12 months.
Additional services such as dental pulp banking, Vision NIPT and Dietary Screening tests can be purchased individually.
